Iodine [I] Our bodies have about 25mg of iodine and about 17mg is in the thyroid glands. The other 8mg is distributed throughout the body and is in the fluids that wash our cells. Iodine is part of the structure of similar thyroid hormones that regulate physical and mental growth.

It also functions in the nerve cells, muscles and regulates the metabolism of the cells of the body. It helps in the regulation of growth, reproduction, nerve function, muscle function, catabolism of proteins and lipids, and the use of oxygen in every cell in the body.

We will discuss Cobalt (Co) mineral in our next lecture as a continuation of the specific uses of minerals or element in our bodies.
